MOVING!

To our faithful followers, we apologize for the lack of posts lately. We have been working towards a shift in our Yoga and how it will be incorporated into our practice, business, and how we can interact with our community. We will be removing this blog in the next week and we invite you to join us at our new home @ The Rogue Lotus Almanac .

A start to a healthy day varies on each person you ask. Everyone has a system and a method that works best for them. A few people have asked and this is what I do:

* Six days a week I start my day with “Red Hot Anahata” - A red juice that I make in my home. About 1 pint (half of a 1 quart mason jar). I add Chia seeds approx. 1Tbsp and then I give the whole mix a good shake. Let sit for a few minutes so that the Chia can absorb and start to expand.

* I also rub Peppermint Oil onto my stomach. Starting under the breast, down to your undie line, and along the sides of the rib cage. If you have sensitive skin you may want to dilute with a carrier oil. I personally don’t. I like to just rub it on and enjoy the burning cold. The reason I use peppermint oil in the a.m. before other activities is because it is absorbed through the skin and helps relieve excess bloat and inflammation.

 * And what is any day without a Multi-Vitamin, Biotin, and Cranberry Extract (not pictured)?

This is what I like to do. I also include walking, jogging, and Yoga into my daily routine. But just like normal everyday people, when life comes with interruptions, I go with the flow and don’t beat myself up about it. Just pick up where you left off and get back into the rhythm of things. I hope this helps some of you and message me if you have any questions. :)

We have been very blessed to have amazing students, friends, and supporters. We strive to offer “Studio Grade Yoga” outside of the studio. It’s this mentality that has founded the principles Rogue Lotus Yoga was built upon. It is very rare that we have fund raisers but when we do it is to help offset the cost of new props, securing locations, and hosting amazing workshops. This Summer we are offering Lemon Velvet Cupcakes. 100% hand-made from an old family recipe. We are asking for $10 p/dz and they will be delivered to the address requested ( within West Covina, Covina, Baldwin Park, La Verne, Claremont, Montclair, Pomona, Brea, Diamond Bar, Chino, Corona, Fullerton, and Ontario areas) and we gladly except cash or credit ( Visa, MC, Discover, Amex ). Thank you to all who can spread the word and to those who order! Gratitude, Blessings, & Namaste.

Ahhhhhh! Summer is a Creeper!

I know this sounds odd, but Summer season is closing in. For those of you who are new to Rogue Lotus Yoga and Myself, here is a quick intro:

My name is Erica and I am the founder of Rogue Lotus Yoga. I am currently on a weight-loss journey. I’m currently 130lbs lighter, 6 dress sizes smaller, have been turning to Yoga/Clean Eating/Exercise/Holistic Healing, and learning to live with the effects of PCOS and the other ailments it can cause.

Before I decided to grow RLY I was still working at a studio near my home. Due to all sorts of “life” occurring I felt that it would be in my best interests to leave and I did. I utilized that break and stopped working out, put my asana practice on hold, and just allowed myself to retreat inwards to really focus and hone in on what it is that I want out of this life… It took time… like 6 months. I didn’t gain any weight back, I didn’t lose any dress sizes but I didn’t need a larger one either (giant sigh of relief), and my asthma has made a return (nice… not!).

So you are probably wondering why I think Summer is a creeper… well, I can’t stand Rx anything. I can’t stand to use OTC’s either. I actually do not like to take anything and I try to avoid when possible. I have this belief in regards to my asthma. I learned Pranayama and Meditation like 10+ years ago to help control my asthma while playing sports. I had a rescue inhaler for some time and it took real work to finally ditch it. I’m not saying my choice is safe or should be repeated by anyone. Talk to your doctor if this is something you may be thinking about. Well back to where this is going… With the recent brush fires, crazy heat waves, humidity and starting to work out much harder; I can feel the change in the air. It already feels like Summer in the mornings. It feels like that odd feeling of someone watching… creeper status… Summer’s gaze is on us! My asthma is actually more present than it has been in YEARS.

I know that I have a long journey ahead of me, but I really wouldn’t have it any other way. I refuse to let my body get the better of me though… So I’m busting out the Eucalyptus & Lavender oils, as well as Pranayama. I will get back to where I was 6 months ago and I will surpass it. Creeper Summer can make it as difficult as possible but I got plenty of tricks to last through the early season!

Stay aware and focus on being the change you wish to see in the world.

A True Journey Lasts a Lifetime

My methods can work and the Yoga I teach is not fancy, trending, or even conducted in a hot room… It takes hard work and it does feel “uncomfortable” but the results you get will show you exactly what your time and dedication can give you. I hope to see some of you out and about at Santa Fe Dam tomorrow. $5 for a 90min class. RSVP at our email address, location details are available on the Calender section of our Tumblr page, by selecting the link to our calendar.  You can also sign up for our Newsletter by selecting the link to RYL Pulse.

I think it’s time for me to put some things into perspective … This was me at my heaviest. This was taken in Oct/Nov of 2010. I have lost tons of weight through my Yoga practice, running, basic exercise and eating clean.

This is my most current after…
